Globe X Zapato - Sunshine Printing
Join Donna for this fun family activity over at Zapato!
Using special photograph paper, let’s make some cool and exciting photograms outside of Zapato with Donna!
Get creative in the sun at the lovely Zapato where a selection of drinks are available to purchase, and take your fabulous cyanotype photograms with you to display at home.
Please note, the activity takes roughly 45 minutes/ 1 hour, but we have allocated extra time for younger families :)

Globe X Zapato - Frottage Collages
Join Zoe on this one off family event at Zapato, using found objects and nature, we will play with wax resist technique, and collage these into beautiful handmade pop-up cards!
Drinks and snacks will be on sale at the bar.
All art materials are provided, please don't wear anything you don't want to get paint on! it will most likely be too hot to put aprons on, so just wear clothes you can get messy

Globe X Zapato - Window box planters
Learn how to make a beautiful wooden window box planter for your home or garden, with Byron and Carolyn!
Each family will work in a group to produce a box planter, which can be taken away on the day, fully lined- ready for you to pop some pretty plants into once you get home.
If you want, you can bring along your own tools, as we will demonstrate how to use all equipment and tools step by step, inc. saw, clamps, drill and a hammer.

Valentines workshop @Zapato
A lovely workshop, for all of the family and friends, this Valentines!
Join us over at Zapato for this 1 hour workshop where you will use coloured and patterned tissue papers to design your very own decoupage 3D hanging decoration, with Carolyn aka Mindful Maker.
Every bum on a seat needs a ticket so please book 1 ticket pp, this is for ages 4+, adults must stay and join in!
You will take them home with you at the end of the workshop (they shouldn’t be too sticky), give to your valentines or keep for yourself!
Christmas in a cup family workshop @ Zapato
Join us this Christmas over at Zapato for this family workshop creating your own winter wonderland!
As a family, work together to create your own little world using modelling clay, and miniature accessories. Each pair will receive a plain cup and saucer/ teapot to decorate your Christmas themed scene.

Contemporary British Painting featuring Oliver Lancaster, Emma Oughtibridge, Christian Niblo Lloyd, and Tom Ratcliffe
This Winter our Globe Gallery heads over to Zapato Taproom for a group exhibition of Contemporary British Painting featuring Oliver Lancaster, Emma Oughtibridge, Christian Niblo Lloyd, and Tom Ratcliffe.
Zapato is just off the historical Huddersfield Narrow Canal between Slaithwaite and Marsden which you can reach in about 30 minute walk (ish) from our Globe Arts Studio.
Join us for the preview on Friday 10th November at 6pm, and enjoy everything the Taproom has to offer. With 7 keg lines and 2 cask of Zapato & guest beer, natural wine, plus specialty coffee and soft drinks, there is a drink for every thirsty mouth. Birria Bandits will be in the beer garden serving up great street food, 4.30 - 8.30pm, or until it’s all gone!
If you can't make it to the preview then you can catch the exhibition right up until Wednesday 10th January. Please check Zapatos opening times prior to your visit. Free entry for everybody.
Zapato kindly ask not to bring your car unless absolutely necessary because they have limited parking.

Sketchbook Club @ Zapato
Join Fiona for this laid back Sketchbook club, over at Zapato Brewing, Marsden.
Throughout the weeks, you will experiment with a variety of drawing and painting media including; pencil, charcoal, fine liners, coloured markers, pastels and watercolour paints.
We will provide you with paper and all of the materials you need to experiment with, but you are welcome to bring your own sketchbook and materials along if you want to.
(this group is for adults only, please do not book children on, we have lots of family workshops at Zapato, or we have numerous afterschool clubs for kids at our base- Globe Arts in Slaithwaite.)
SUMMER Clay Buddha sculptures @ Zapato (OUT n ABOUT)
Join Carolyn & Jackie at Zapato - Using air dry clay, we're going to sculpt a beautiful Buddha, taking inspiration from Niki De Saint Phalle's huge sculpture (you may have seen it at YSP)
We'll use some clay tools and natures tools - our hands!
each person will receive a lump of clay roughly the size of a fist, and we will show you how to manipulate the clay, to make a sitting figure :)
after you've finished with the shape, we will add textures by pushing small objects into the surface - beads, buttons, waxy leaves etc.
you can take them home as they don't need to be fired in a kiln, and once fully dry, you could even add colour to them if you want!
we'll be selling a few bits and bobs if you don't have watercolour paints at home (that's how we usually colour ours, but nail varnish works, sharpies or poster paints)
please buy 1 ticket per person over the age of 5, this is a family activity, everyone joins in!
SUMMER Cyanotype Photograms @ Zapato (OUT n ABOUT)
Join Donna in Zapato garden, to create beautiful blue images called photograms, with your family!
Each person will get an A5 piece of this special photo paper, to make their mark, using flat-ish objects ( a leaf, flower, buttons etc) PLUS the power of the sun (or our UV lamps if its a bit cloudy)!

SUMMER Shadow Drawing in Zapato Garden (OUT n ABOUT)
Join Zoe & Kelsey n the lovely shady garden at Zapato, where we will play with different types of materials to draw the shapes of shadows, cast by the sun over the trees!
We might get a little bit messy! Working on large paper, using charcoal graphite and watercolour paints, we will be sitting in the grass and kneeling in dirt, so don't wear your best clothes!
We'll also have a go at FROTTAGE, if you don't know what that is - that'll be a nice little surprise on the day :)

SUMMER Family Walk & Draw with Kel & Lunar - Globe to Zapato (OUT n ABOUT)
Join Kelsey and Lunar (the Globe Arts’ doggo) for a fun family walk and draw session.
Starting at Globe Arts Studio, where you will receive your Globe Arts Tote Bag, full of art goodies to use on your walk, from Slaithwaite to Zapato Brewery.
Each tote bag includes a handmade concertina sketchbook to keep, a zip lock bag with pencil, charcoal, eraser, oil pastels, and a few coloured markers - so that you can capture the nature that you see along the way.
We will make little stops along the walk, taking in the scenery along the towpath, and enjoy a look at everyones drawings when we arrive at our final destination.
Bring a bottle of water, and sun lotion, incase its super sunny!
Once we arrive at Zapato, you will be able to purchase coffees, beers, cake and savoury nibbles - and receive 10% off your first order.

SUMMER Make Music- Monkey Drums @ Zapato (OUT n ABOUT)
Did you know it's Kirklees year of music? Over the summer you'll find lots of musical events celebrating Kirklees diverse musical heritage.
Join Zoe and Carolyn in Zapato garden, for a special creative workshop where you can make your own musical instruments 🎵🪇🥁🎶
This is a great accessible workshop as nearly all the materials are recycled turning trash into treasure ♻️
Using metal cans, string, beads and wooden drumsticks, you will create a monkey drum and decorate it with acrylic paint or decoupage with colourful tissue paper!
Using branches, garden wire, bottle tops and plastic bottles you can also make your own rattles and tambourines.
You will have a few different instruments to choose from, and all materials to make and decorate, suitable for ages 3+

SUMMER Family Junk Sculpture with MKG @ Zapato (OUT n ABOUT)
Join Jackie & sculptor Mick Kirkby Geddes in Zapato garden, to create junk sculptures as a family!

The piece below was made when Mick taught our Young Creative Saturday Art Club last year. Items like a pan lid, some old electrical wire, sticky back plastic and cable ties were used to design a funky face!
SUMMER Zapato Family BIG Draw (OUT n ABOUT)
Join Zoe & Carolyn for a fun family painting session at Zapato this July!
Join Zoe & Carolyn, paint on our huge outdoor floor canvas, plus make your own mini masterpieces to take home!
We will use inspiration from Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky, to create abstract doodle art.
Make a collaborative piece with everyone using acrylic paint and big brushes, and individual pieces on mini canvases, which are displayed on mini easels.
Suitable for ages 5-105! Just bring your sunscreen and plenty of water to keep hydrated.

Join Fiona for our (relatively new) Sketchbook club, over at Zapato Brewing, Marsden.

Join Zoe and learn how to mosaic onto cork coasters at Zapato!
You will cut your own designs from tile, mirror and coloured glass.
All materials provided. If you have lots of bits at home, you can bring little trinkets or pieces of broken pottery/ tiles/ glass etc, but items like round beads do not work very well at the grouting stage!
