You will spend the entire 6 hours outside in nature, drawing and painting using the beautiful flowers, trees and scenery as inspiration for your art!

Please wear clothes you don't mind getting mucky and bring an apron if you have one!
Feel free to bring anything along if you wish, like a sketchbook if you're working in one, however all materials will be included on the day.

Carved Ceramic Bowls w. Nigel Hoyle
Join Nigel at Holme Mills and personalise your own vessel, to feature words in reverse, which cast the words/ phrase in the form of shadows when lit from inside!
Nigel will have hand thrown the bowls prior to the workshop, and ensure they are at the perfect consistency to carve into.

Working with Hockney’s bold brush strokes and exuberant colour. We will do some preliminary studies, working with expressive colours, using flowers as a starting point, but also free to imagine . Create a painting which captures the joy of summer, the unbelievable colours to be found in nature, with Hockney’s heighten colour palette and confident strokes.

Using stained glass and etching techniques, we will produce our own versions of the iconic Huddersfield landmark - Castle Hill!
These sculptures will stand in slotted wooden plinths, which you will have the choice to paint, or keep the natural wood effect in the last part of the workshop.

Playing with Earth & Fire - Pit & Raku Firing short course w. David Helm
Join us for this one-off Pit & Raku Firing Short Course in collaboration with the talented David Helm and the amazing Edibles!
Ever wanted to play with fire? Well here is your chance to do just that! Plus make something amazing of course!
On 30th August (7-9pm) we will create a series of pots/forms using raku clay and some of the actual earth dug from the ground at Edibles. We will explore the natural environment around us and take inspiration from this to develop ideas for our forms.
Then over 20th September (7-9pm) and 21st September (6-9pm), we will glaze our creations from the previous session, and explore two different firing processes (raku and pit firing). On the evening of the final workshop we will also enjoy a sop style supper with food and wine which is included in the ticket price.
