Work experience at Globe Arts
I am currently a year 10 student at Honley High School and have been coming to Globe Arts for 3 years. I’ve been part of the Young Creatives classes on a Saturday, private tuition during the week and volunteering in the Junior Art Club helping out in the class - so when it came to applying for work experience at school, it seemed a natural fit to come to Globe for the week.
I find art a way to be free and express your emotion. I love to visit galleries in my spare time and I hope to study art and become a curator in the future, so to be able to come to Globe Arts Studio to experience that first hand is perfect - meeting artists, talking to tutors about careers and what steps I need to take to get there, as it will help me achieve my goals.
Doing work experience here at Globe Arts Studio is a great opportunity to begin a career of curating art, as it has helped me gain hands-on experience working closely with professionals. Not only have I gained valuable practical skills, I’ve also been able to make connections in the industry and learn what its like working in a place of art. During my week at Globe Arts so far, I have been involved in a wide range of activities; from cleaning and looking after the art equipment, weeding around the building, helping in classes and workshops, creating fused glass birds for displays and helping with the upkeep and maintenance of the studios. Globe Arts have been extremely supportive and I am very lucky to have the opportunity to work with such talented and friendly tutors and have access to such a wide range of materials and techniques.
