Join fantastic artist and tutor, Jane Middleton, for a short course of 'Learn to Draw', in our Carr Lane studio.
WHO: Taught by Jane Middleton, it doesn’t matter if you're a complete beginner, or perhaps you're needing to refresh some skills - no matter your experience, everyone is welcome and we are sure that you will love learning new art skills.
Please note: If the course has less than 5 clients booked, there is a chance of the course being cancelled. For this reason, we recommend booking sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. If the course is cancelled, we will offer a full refund or transfer to a similar course.
If you decide to cancel, we are unable to refund you, and instead will offer you a transfer if you give us 7 days notice.
WHEN: Wednesdays 10-12pm, 19th, 26th March & 2nd April 2025
WHAT: This term’s focus will be on figures - a lot of Jane’s illustrations are inspired by folk art, curvaceous sculptures by Henry Moore, Renaissance art, as well as ancient art including Athenian and Palaeolithic periods - all of which have different shapes and figures!
Session outlines can be catered to different abilities, but will be built around the following:
Session 1 : look at examples of historical and present day paper puppets and dolls for inspiration. Make sketches and develop ideas for own doll design.
Session 2: Learn how to use watercolours as this will be the medium we use to decorate our own dolls on card.
Session 3: decorate the dolls with watercolours and pencil crayons. Assemble with split pins
WHERE: Carr Lane, Globe 1
WHY: Learn skills, increase your confidence, and unleash your creativity.
