Meet Mindful Maker

“Hi, I’m Carolyn - and ‘Mindful Maker’ was born from the need to be present while creating.”

In January 2024, Carolyn received a certificate from TLS, saying that Mindful Maker CIC is "Open to All"! Carolyn is always working hard to come up with brilliant mindful art activities that are accessible to everybody - whether it is upcycling old materials, careful mandala painting or zentangle cards, workshops with Mindful Maker are always great for relaxation

About Carolyn

After previously working as a fabric designer for Fine Worsted Menswear, at textile manufacturers in West Yorkshire and spending time in Japan, Carolyn joined the Globe Arts team to offer creative workshops focusing on Mindfulness, sustainability and recycling.

Carolyn is now a huge part of Globe Arts Studio, as besides offering an incredible array of fun and relaxing workshops, Carolyn is also a technician during David’s Ceramics class, and is always there with a drill when we need “Colin’s” handywork expertise!

“Having lived experience of mental health difficulties”, Mindful Maker is an amazing inspiration as she continues to promote the mental health benefits of art and being present whilst creating. For this reason, Carolyn set Mindful Maker up as a Community Interest Company to be able to support other people with their mental health, all whilst having fun in creative workshops.

Carolyn’s art influences!

“Anything and everything!” - Carolyn is inspired by things that are fun, free and not too serious. With a passion for arts and crafts, you can often find Mindful Maker “turning trash to treasure” and inspiring people to “reuse, repurpose and relove”!

Where will you find Carolyn at Globe Arts Studio?

You can always find Carolyn at Craftanoon each term - Craftanoon is such a huge part of Globe Arts Studio, and Carolyn is always coming up with brand new ideas each week, usually focusing on upcycling old materials! They’ve done it all, from sets of drawers, windchimes and brooches!

Mindful Maker is bringing Mindful Mandala Mondays to Globe Arts Studio - on Monday 8th April (mandala stones) and Monday 15th April (mandala jewellery), get into the relaxed mindspace as you focus on intricate designs - forget about your worries!

To encourage people to get into arts and crafts to see how it can help your wellbeing, Carolyn came up with the concept ‘Give it a Go’! Starting on Thursday 11th April, there will be a new focus each week - learn new skills and have fun at the same time! We will be learning…

-Pyrography Art

-Mandala Jewellery

-Expressive Canvases

-Zentangle Cards

-Button Bouquets

“Fun facts” about Carolyn!
