We deliver visual art workshops from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5, tailored to your curriculum needs, aimed at increasing confidence, skills and expertise. We offer flexible programmes from full day, ½ day, after-school, inset and holiday provision to teacher CDP. Each workshop is fully planned, delivered and evaluated to achieve maximum impact. We are accredited to deliver Arts Award Explorer to Silver and can contribute additional hours to your existing Arts Award provision, or develop a full programme. Guide price £250 for a half day workshop plus materials.

We specialise in fused glass, printing, life drawing, as well as painting and drawing techniques using a wide variety of media. We offer evening and day-time classes, weekend workshops, family sessions, gallery visits and more in our seasonal calendar. All our classes include full tuition, materials and equipment on the day. Enhance your CPD

Whether you are a new or seasoned teacher, continuing your professional development is important for you, your school and your pupils. Our courses give you the time and space to focus on your personal practice; to learn new and enhance existing skills and to develop new was of delivering topics using a variety of accessible equipment and medium, as well as providing opportunities for collaboration and networking. We have courses available for Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5 staff and these are delivered by experienced, qualified teachers.

Twilight CPD - from £25 per person

After school, twilight sessions at our own Studio or in your school setting. These sessions can be tailored to suit your specific needs or be a more general introduction to a particular medium such as silk painting.

Full Day Courses - from £90 per person

Our one day courses focus on the develop skills using key medium such as printing, fused glass and life drawing, as well as traditional drawing and painting skills. Each course includes full tuition, materials and lunch.

Art Education Conference - June - £50 per person (25% early bird discount)

Our first (annual) conference is an excellent opportunity to meet local artists and art suppliers; discuss current hot topics in Art education and take part in practical workshops.

We have over 25 years of secondary teaching and subject leadership experience in the fields of Visual Art and Business and Enterprise. We want to use our professional experience to narrow the gaps in confidence, expertise and facilities within visual arts.

Drawing and Painting Daytime course – from 12th September

Weekly art class during term time. Develop a range of skills using wet and dry media, progress from beginner to intermediate. We theme the course such as still life, portraiture, landscape, or you are welcome to work on your own project if you prefer - contact us to find out what we are currently working towards.

Fused Glass Evening course – from 12th September

katies bowlLearn the basic techniques of fused glass making, or develop your skills further in our term time evening class - perfect to experiment and create your own small project pieces.  You will learn a variety of fusing methods and materials including frits, confetti, stringer and inclusions.

Suitable for beginners and those will some fused glass experience, and includes all tuition, equipment, materials (significant glass stock included with the option to purchase additional glass if needed for large projects). 

Dates/Time:  Mondays at 6.30pm to 8pm - 12th September to 17th October

Technique Taster Daytime short course – from 4th October

woolLooking to broaden your creative technique experience?  Unable to commit to regular classes and courses?  Why not try out our Technique Taster short course?

Over 3 weeks, we will specialise in a particular technique, working on a small project and giving you the opportunity to experiment across a range of crafts.  All tuition, materials and equipment are provided.

Print making - 22nd Nov to 6th Dec

Life Drawing Evening course – from 13th September

Develop a wide range of fundamental techniques using wet and dry media.  Friendly atmosphere, small class size, experienced tutor, and a variety of models, all abilities welcome from beginners to those wishing to develop their practise.  All tuition, materials and equipment are provided.  Five/six week blocks during term time.

Ceramics Evening course – from 21st Sept

Our Ceramics course is the perfect opportunity to unwind whilst working with clay.  You will learn a variety of techniques, including pinch, coil and moulded forms, creating your own small pieces to decorate with slips and glazes . This course is suitable for beginners and those who enjoy working with clay. All materials, equipment, firing and tuition is included.  We limit our class sizes to ensure a relaxed, friendly environment with plenty of one to one support available.

Dates/Times:  Wednesdays at 6.30pm to 8pm from 21st October to 19th October

Mini Messy Makers – pre-school art class : Back 5th October

Our weekly class for pre-school age babies and children.  The children explore different art activities, giving them a chance to really express themselves. Each week the class is themed and your child will get chance to create there own Mini Masterpiece to take home.  Best of all we clear up instead of you!!

Getting creative (and a little bit messy) isn't just lots of fun... the creation of art and feeling good about it helps to boost self confidence and children who feel able to experiment and to make mistakes feel free to invent new ways of thinking, which extends well beyond the art studio.

Time/Dates:  Wednesdays at 10am to 11am term time only - from Wednesday 5th October 2016

Cost:  £4 per child (grown ups go free!!!) Reserve your place online and pay on the day (or online for ease!)

Junior Saturday Art Club – from 10th September

Weekly, term-time art club for children over 4 years old. 

We run 5/6 week blocks, developing technical art and craft skills, all children will be registered and can work towards Arts Award Explore which provides a broad structure to the art club.  We ensure the children create alongside merging artists who inspire and enthuse.  Our staff include experienced teachers, with DBS and first aid.

2016/17 dates:  10th Sept to 15th Oct; 5th Nov to 17th Dec; 7th Jan to 11th Feb; 4th March to 1st April (5 weeks); 29th April to 27th May (5 weeks); 10th June to 15th July

4 to 7 years:  Saturdays 9.30am to 10.30am £45

8 years plus: Saturdays 11am to 12.30pm £54

Family friendly taster sessions – from 15th Oct

Family friendly sessions are an opportunity to make and create together.  We run them most months and we try out a different medium each workshop - could be ceramics or felting or drawing or 3D...

Dates for Autumn 2016/17 are to be set with the activities under wraps for a bit longer.  It's a great way to spend an afternoon together and there is always something to take home!

Screen Printing Workshop with Dan Booth

Dan Booth returns this Autumn in his Screen Printing specialist workshop.  This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Dan, Slaitwaite based screen print maker, to create your own screen printed pieces.  A perfect introduction to screen printing or to develop your printing skills.
