Why get involved in Young Roots? You will be creating fantastic artwork based on the dramatic Grade II* listed building - home to the Lawrence Batley Theatre! As a Globe Arts Young Creative you’ll have opportunities to team up with LBT Young Leaders to explore the history and heritage of the building; contribute towards your next Arts Award level; Exhibit your artwork as part of an interactive event at the LBT on 18th August. Plus, you'll develop your research and creative making skills using Photography; Drawing; Painting and Printmaking

David Preston returns with his Creative Digital Photography workshop but this time it's just for the kids! Aimed at children aged 10 years plus who are keen to increase their camera skills - bring your own digital SLR or we have 2 available to loan.
David says you'll "learn the basics of digital photography and get more from your camera. As well as understanding the basics of good composition and lighting you will learn how to use your camera to become creative and experimental. After the course you will be on your way to creating your own unique images. Email support is provided after the course if you have any further questions or just want to share your images or have them critiqued.

We have a 2 hour Builder Workshop for the enthusiastic lego builder! This fun workshop is aimed at children aged 5 plus who love to construct and there will be lots of opportunity to build a host of moving models of increasing levels of complexity and challenge (so suitable for the early builders to those with more experience).
Bricks4Kids are experts in the delivery of builder workshops, and run our term time after school club too. So, book your children in for a morning of making - and you can go and enjoy a couple of hours me time!

This summer, visual arts meets bushcraft in our unique Summer School adventure, Tuesdays during the summer holidays here in Slaithwaite. We've teamed up with BeMoreOutdoors (Babes in the Wood) to bring together a fantastic opportunity for children to immerse themselves in both the arts and outdoors.
We will be providing high quality arts experiences for all ages encouraging creativity and building confidence. Our arts workshops will explore creativity through drawing, painting, print making and 3D sculpture.
Be More Outdoors is a well-established forest school who focus on engaging with the outdoors to promote personal development. Our bush craft session will offer den building, fire lighting and lots of power tools! All outdoors at our unique setting at the Horsefield on the edge of Slaithwaite village.

Inspired by the fused glass classes and workshops we run? Love to entertain and would like create your own bespoke cake stand? Our 1 day workshop this summer is the perfect day for you....
Perfect for those new to fused glass as we'll over the basics, or those with more experience. In the morning, you'll learn the basics, design and make the top layer of your cake stand, following a buffet lunch you'll spend the afternoon making the base layer of the cake stand.
All tuition, materials (including the cake stand) and lunch are included - please note that we will need to fuse and have the stand holes drilled after the workshop, so we will need some time to complete each stand.

Our two day personal practice workshop is aimed at students preparing/returning for University, artists wishing to enhance their own practice and for those who want to re-engage and further their practice in a studio setting.
Mornings are focused guided/tutored workshops - day one life drawing; day two drawing for print. Both afternoons give you the freedom to progress your own pieces.
The workshop is held in our Create Space, New Street which is a large studio space.

Our exciting new course in dry stone walling is led by building and masonry expert Lance Gilbert. Learn all the skills needed to build your own dry stone wall and more.

Our Ceramics course is the perfect opportunity to unwind whilst working with clay. You will learn a variety of techniques, including pinch, coil and moulded forms, creating your own small pieces to decorate with slips and glazes.
This term we will be trying out some new surface techniques, learning about different stages of clay, construction and adding detaisl like handles and feet. We will be trying slip decoration on raw clay, adding under-glazes to bisque ware and trying some wax resist glazing. We will be making objects that are a mixture of function and fun.
Ammie has worked clay in large scale public projects and taught ceramics for over 25 years. She is a resident in the new Globe Arts studio workspaces.
Suitable for beginners and those who enjoy working with clay. All materials, equipment, firing and tuition is included. We limit our class sizes to ensure a relaxed, friendly environment with plenty of one to one support available.

The Art Class is a great class for those looking to explore their creativity through the exploration of a range of art and craft techniques. Our brand new Stained Glass evening class begins this Autumn. Tutor Diane Mellor is an experienced stained glass artist and she will lead you through the basics of glass cutting, soldering and leading glass. You'll design small projects to be enjoyed at home, beginning with a window panel A4 to A3 in size suitable for hanging.

Our after school art class for over 5s runs term time every Wednesday after school, for children aged 5 plus. We'll be creating and introducing a whole host of art and craft techniques - class starts at 4pm to 5pm, but you are free to drop you child from the school run from 3.30pm. We aim to introduce new skills and activities, and ensure each child has their own masterpieces to take home, as well as creating collaborative pieces to celebrate the Create Art Club too.
