MEET THE ARTISTS 5TH MAY AND 2ND JUNE.
An exciting exhibition of figurative art and portraits by Abi Anderson and Kevin Threlfall.
Exploring past and present, the exhibition combines classical traditions of portraiture with experimental contemporary representations of the human body.
Highlighting remarkably varied approaches, the exhibition features highly detailed paintings as well as studies from life drawing sessions and sketchbooks. During the show Kevin and Abi will be painting in the gallery on 5th May and 2nd June, allowing visitors to see how work develops and changes over the course of the exhibition.
Whether intense, dramatic or quietly intimate, all of the works in this exhibition encouraged visitors to change the way we think about and perceive art’s oldest subject: the human form.
Time/Dates: 10am to 3pm Monday to Thursday and Saturdays 5th May to 2nd June
Cost: Free event - no need to book
Join us for our creative photography afternoon working along side local photographer David Preston, in his introductory workshop which will start you on a journey to become more creative with your digital photography.
Modern digital cameras are very sophisticated and produce technically excellent photographs, but good photography needs to express your vision of the scene or object and it should be your unique interpretation of what you are seeing.
During the workshop, you get out and about around Slaithwaite village, learning the basic principles of setting up a great image, utilising settings on your camera and using readily available software to edit the final image.
Bring your own SLR or bridge camera to learn how to get the best from it... minimum requirement is some manual control to adjust shutter speed and aperture. If in doubt, get in touch with the model of your camera.
The workshop will also cover some editing techniques including mobile phone and tablet apps so please bring these along too if you have them.
We have 2 workshop dates - 9th June for over 16s and 28th July for 10 - 15 years.
Find out more about David on his website http://
Time/Date: 10am to 1pm Saturday 9th June and 28th July
